The Department of Motor Vehicles satellite office in Stamford had a 55 percent increase in transactions last month, but the state may close the facility to save money. Stamford Director of Operations, Ben Barnes, says he remains hopeful the state will find a way to keep the office open. Governor Rell delayed closing the office from April 3rd to June 30th. However, the state DMV cut the hours of operation in half. The facility is now open on Wednesdays and Fridays only. Last month, Governor Rell proposed closing all DMV branches one day a week--to save $24 million.
