Governor Jodi Rell has until Thursday to sign a bill that would ban ultrasounds unless they are approved by a doctor for medical or diagnostic purposes. Some Connecticut companies are offering popular ultrasounds that give parents-to-be the ability to see their baby in the womb. Some in the medical community are concerned the procedure could be harmful to the mother and the fetus.

The problem is that the people that do the procedure at these "boutique" ultrasound businesses are not qualified to identify any abnormalities found in the womb, and properly diagnose corrective procedures.

What others are saying

  • Nuts
This is insane - there are not studies that suggest ultrasound has any negative effect. Shame on the governor for being led by special interests. How about just a little research into the matter before hanging your flag on another dumb issue.
