Murder Suspect's Father Credited for Playing Key Role in WInning Son's Acquittal
Amos "A.J." Brown Jr. was charged with stabbing 17 year old Tykwan Hunt to death in January 2008 during a melee in Norwalk involving dozens of youths. Brown said it was self-defense. Brown's father, Amos Brown, spent hundreds of hours finding nearly 30 youths who were at the party, talking with them and convincing reluctant witnesses to testify. Some teens testified that Hunt stabbed someone and pointed a gun at Brown before he was stabbed. The elder Brown had turned his son in to police, but then went to work trying to win his freedom. A Stamford Superior Court jury acquitted the 17 year old Brown last Friday.
