Local Muslim Leader Responds to Obama Speech
A Fairfield County Muslim leader has reacted favorably to President Obama's address to the Muslim world. During his speech at Cairo University, the president stressed greater understanding between America and Muslims while constructively confronting divisive issues. The fundamental message of human coexistance and understanding is echoed by Dr. Kareem Adeeb, a Fairfield engineer and member of the Board of Directors of The Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut.
Dr. Adeeb feels the President's speech will help to improve relations between Muslims and the West but stresses, as Americans, it's important to confront extremists that exist not only among Muslims but Christians and Jews as well. Adeeb also says president Obama must concentrate on communicating with moderates among all three faiths and that the U.S. States must take a leadership role in showing how peace can be achieved between all three religions.
