July 4th Celebrators Will Be Able to Buy a Fifth in Connecticut
Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell says a 1982 state statute amended a law that had prohibited the sale of alcohol on some major holidays. Farrell says package stores may remain open and grocery stores with a beer permit can sell beer this year on July 4th, which is Saturday. He says it's only the fourth time since 1982 that the holiday has come on a Saturday. Liquor stores are not required to be open, but can open up for celebration sales.
