Greenwich Hospital to Lay Off 77 Staffers
Officials from Greenwich Hospital hospital say they are planning to lay off close to 80 workers. Greenwich Hospital president Frank Corvino says the layoffs are because of fewer patients and a decrease in funding. Officials say most of the hospital departments will be affected but patient care and safety will not. The hospital recently eliminated nearly 160 positions and put a hiring and salary freeze in place this year. Greenwich Hospital joins Waterbury Hospital, Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford and New Milford Hospital as other Connecticut medical facilities that have either announced layoffs or made cuts this year.
