Fiat has agreed to honor state lemon laws to protect consumers who have already purchased Chrysler vehicles during the company's bankruptcy proceedings. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says he fought to have Fiat honor the laws as part of their purchase of Chrysler. Now Blumenthal says Fiat is seeking to escape product liability for Chrysler vehicles. Blumenthal says the move would leave many consumers unprotected if their vehicle turns out to be defective. Blumenthal says he intends to continue the fight, and will urge Fiat to be a good corporate citizen by acknowledging product liability.
