A Stamford woman and University of Colorado student was raped and killed back in 1997, and a man linked to her death through DNA is facing trial. The trial of Diego Olmos Alcalde opens today. He was linked to the beating death of Susannah Chase through DNA evidence sent to a national database. Alcalde's DNA was taken while he was serving a Wyoming sentence for kidnapping. Chase was a 23 year old student from Stamford. She was found severely beaten in an alley a block from her Boulder home on December 21st, 1997. A baseball bat was found nearby, Alcalde's trial is expected to last about 4 weeks.
