Congressman Himes Passionate about Tobacco Legislation
4th Congressional District Congressman Jim Himes is pleased with the Senate's vote granting the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco. Himes says that in order to get America's health care system "in order", smoking must be "gotten under control". Himes says he has spoken with doctors and insurance employees and says that the cost of insuring smokers over the course of a lifetime equals tens of thousands of dollars more versus those who don't smoke. Himes feels that less smokers equals greater cost savings for the health care system and that can lead to a "win win" situation for the entire nation.
