Democratic Senator Bob Duff is in favor of abolishing the death penalty in the state.

There is much support among the public in the state for the death penalty. A Quinnipiac University poll says three of every five state residents want the state to keep the death penalty, despite legislative attempts to abolish it.

The new bill to abolish the death penalty is expected to be vetoed by Governor Jodi Rell.
