The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows Senator Chris Dodd trailing Republican challenger, Rob Simmons, in the 2010 U.S. Senate race. Poll director Doug Schwartz says Dodd trailed Simmons by 16 points in their last poll taken in early April.

Schwartz says Dodd's numbers have likely bounced back because of his role in passage of a package of reforms aimed at curbing deceptive credit card company practices. He says Dodd likely suffered in the last poll because of his bad press at that time from the AIG bonus scandal and fallout from his reported cut rate mortgages received from Countrywide Financial.

What others are saying

  • Schiff 2010
Peter Schiff for U.S. Senate in 2010! Unlike Sen. Dodd, Schiff predicted the economic crisis all the way back in 2006; just look it up on YouTube. Does Connecticut want an economic incompetent like Dodd, or someone who truly understands the market and liberty like Schiff?
  • Dump Dodd
Perhaps Mr. Schwartz should do a poll to find out exactly why Mr. Dodd suffered in the last poll. His attempt of reasoning for Dodd's numbers are speculative and uneducated to say the least. Bad Press is most certainly NOT the reason for Dodd's numbers. Dodd's misuse of his Senate Seat for his own unethical and illegal financial gains are the reason for Dodd's low numbers - period. Which proves the bias to Quinnipiac's poll.

I question further where the targeted polling areas and what proportion of registered voters who actually vote by each party line.

I have confidence in Sam Caligiuri despite Quinnipiac's practices

Disgraceful polling practices are as much to blame as Dodd's illegal practices.
