Westport-based Save The Children is prepared to help victims of the wildfires in California. Spokeswoman Wendy Christian says so-called Safe Kits are at the ready at locations throughout California, as well as other states often affected by natural disasters.Christian says the kits are being used to assist children and families forced to leave their homes due to the fire. Christian says the organization is carefully monitoring the situation in California to determine whether it is poised to become more severe. She says the organization has staff members in those areas should assistance become necessary. Christian adds, Save The Children is posting updated reports to its website at www.savethechildren.org  where you can stay informed and see whether help is needed.
