Norwalk Prepares For Hanna
The city of Norwalk is among those preparing for tropical storm Hanna, expected to arrive Saturday with heavy rains and very strong winds. A meeting is scheduled Friday with city officials to discuss the course of action.
"We'll talk about preparations, the needs, how we can work together and some of the other issues that may arrive over the weekend," says city Emergency Management Director Michele DeLuca. "We're not going into panic mode, but just talking as a group about some of the key issues that affect all of us."
DeLuca says residents may see the new Notify Norwalk alert system in action. It's an automated recording sent to all residents about city-wide emergencies like a tropical storm. People are encouraged to be prepared by having a supply of non-perishable food, bottled water, extra batteries and a flashlight.
