Stolen Police Officer

Someone has stolen a Stamford police officer.  The 600 pounds bronzed sculpture depicting a policeman writing a ticket was stolen Sunday night from the corner of Broad Street and Greyrock Place.  It's valued at over $120,000.  The Sculpture Foundation says they know where the castings are so re-selling the statue would be nearly impossible without them knowing about it.

"We hope it's just prank," says Stamford police Lt. Sean Cooney.  "That somebody's got it maybe in a dorm room or a backyard."

Downtown Stamford Special Services District is also hoping the statue will be returned.  Anyone with information is asked to call Stamford police at 977-4407.
