Stamford Man Contracts West Nile Virus
A Stamford man is home recovering after being treated for West Nile Virus. The man is in his mid-50s and was treated at Stamford Hospital. It's the third human case of WNV this summer in Connecticut. State endomologist Doctor Theodore Andreadis isn't surprised a case would pop up in Stamford.
"We've seen repeated cases of West Nile Virus-infected mosquitos in Stamford since trapping began this season," says Dr. Andreadis. "We continue to see more too. Stamford has the distinction of having the most West Nile Virus activity anywhere in the state right now."
Andreadis expects to see more cases of WNV in Fairfield County for at least another two weeks.
