Productive DEP Visit To Darien
Darien First Selectwoman Yvonne Klein says she's pleased with the Department of Environmental Protection's visit Thursday. Representatives along with Klein toured the Heights Road area to see what can be done about flooding when it rains. The visit was regarding a specific project that involves a culvert underneath the rail station in Noroton Heights which connects to pipes underneath Interstate 95. The project would use open streams and some piping into the Bakers Field area to alleviate the flooding problem. The town's original proposal was rejected over concerns of disrupting nearby wetlands.
"We had the DEP walk the site with us, they understand the area itself and the surrounding area and I believe their questions and concerns were answered along with our questions and concerns," Klein says.
Klein goes on to say they'll be revising the application to re-submit in the near future.
