Greenwich Woman Wins Lottery
A Greenwich woman this week ended nearly nine months of speculation by state officials about who won the November 23 Classic Lotto jackpot. Lynn Hagerbrant turned in the winning ticket Monday to claim the $8.8 million prize. The delay was intentional--lottery officials say Hagerbrant has spent the past nine months consulting with financial planners about the best route to take with the money.
"She did absolutely everything correctly," says Diane Patterson with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. "She wanted to ensure the long term security of her prize so she met with a number of financial and legal advisors to help her determine the best path."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Exxon on Putname Avenue in Greenwich. Hagerbrant opted for the one-time cash lump which after taxes amounts to $3.8 million.
