Police are looking for the man they say broke into a Wilton residence and was attacked by the homeowner with a fire poker. 

It happened Thursday afternoon on Nod Hill Road.  The homeowner was in her backyard when she noticed a strange car in the driveway.  She reportedly went inside and found the burglar running out the front door with some of her possessions.  The woman followed him out and began striking him with the fire poker.

The man allegedly started to drive away but the woman reached into the car and was able to retrieve some of the stolen items like a jewlery box. 

Wilton police say the woman is lucky the burglar did not turn violent.
