The American Red Cross has named the New Canaan chapters one of the best-performing groups in the U.S.

Executive Director Stacey Hafen says, "It was a team effort."

"We have a great group of volunteers in New Canaan including a great group of town workers,  emergency management officials and first responders that we work with and we work very hard together," said Hafen.

The award is based on services like disaster readiness which helps residents be prepared in a crisis situation. The Red Cross helped over 140 families during the flooding in April and October of last year.
