Fireworks Fight in Court
The B.J. Alan company is challenging a current state law fighting to reclaim fireworks in time to sell them for the 4th of July holiday.
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says he is fighting for public safety and the state intends to win the battle.
Blumenthal warns "Our law as it is now is valid, enforceable, supported by common sense as well as public safety and we will enforce it to keep these $500,000 worth of fireworks off the streets."
The law was upheld in a prior challenge. The argument will be heard in superior court today.
The state's law does allow sparklers and fountains but bans the sale or possession of fireworks containing more than 100 grams of pyrotechnic.
