If you enjoy having a drink on July 4th and if you are a Connecticut Resident, now is the time to shop. The advocate today is reiterating a long-standing Connecticut Law that prohibits alcohol sales on certain holidays and on Sundays.

This kind of law is called a "blue law" and has been in effect for many years. Connecticut is one of only five states still enforcing this type of prohibition.

This is causing angst among some alcohol retailers because this year's July 4th Holiday is a long weekend and with the law in effect on July 4th as well as on Sunday, sales could be impacted.

Connecticut state law does allow liquor stores to open on July 4th if it falls on a Saturday.
