| John Roman III has been active in south western Fairfield County throughout his professional life. A Stamford native with more than thirty years broadcast experience and strong community ties, John hosts “The Chat Room” talk show Saturday mornings from 6am-8am on News/Talk 1400WSTC 1350WNLK. John spent many of those years at News/Talk 1400WSTC 1350WNLK, as an award-winning reporter, news director, program director and talk show host. During that time, he served three terms as Chairman of the Connecticut Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s Performance Committee, and two terms as Association President. John’s broadcasting experience includes local as well as statewide, national and international events. Traveling with AmeriCares, he was among the first Americans to land in Iran after the devastating 1990 earthquake. He also covered several missions bringing relief supplies to war victims in Croatia, for both News/Talk 1400WSTC 1350WNLK and the ABC Radio Network. John’s news team was the first to link Agent Orange exposure with cancer and other ailments suffered by Vietnam veterans. He was also the only reporter ever allowed onto the site of the fatal L’Ambiance Plaza building collapse in Bridgeport, during the rescue and recovery operations. A local sales and marketing businessman and consultant, John has written, produced and distributed regional and national radio commercials. He has also been deeply involved in the community as a volunteer on the Boards of the Stamford-Darien American Red Cross Chapter, the Child Care Center, the Epilepsy Foundation, and Stamford’s Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla. He is also a recipient of the highest honor bestowed by the American Red Cross for heroism, the National Award of Merit, as well as the Stamford NAACP Branch Freedom Award. John’s experience and curiosity, his interest in the area and its people, bring “The Chat Room” audience an enjoyable, exciting, informed exchange of ideas and opinion from his unique perspective. |
