Courage To Speak® Empowering Youth to Be Drug-Free Family Night

The 6th Annual Courage To Speak® Empowering Youth to Be Drug-Free Family Night will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, 5:30 p.m., at West Rocks Middle School, 81 West Norwalk Road, in Norwalk (snow date: March 18). All are invited to the event, which will bring local families, educators, and community leaders together to affirm their commitment to keeping kids drug-free. Proceeds from the event benefit The Courage to Speak® Foundation programs and curricula to educate children and their parents about the dangers of drug and alcohol use. The evening features local middle school students reading their essays about drug prevention, as well as a display of drug prevention posters and collages created by Norwalk students during classes they’ve taken as part of the Courage To Speak Drug Prevention Curriculum. The evening also includes dinner and a presentation for parents and students by Ginger Katz, Founder and CEO of the Courage to Speak® Foundation.

If you like to help kids, win prizes, and have fun, this fundraiser is right up your alley! On Saturday, April 24, more than 400 bowlers from area companies and friends will join forces to raise money for Junior Achievement of Southwest Connecticut at the 24th Annual Bowl-a-Thon. A Bowl-a-Thon works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but instead of walking you are bowling. It is a great opportunity to get together with co-workers or friends, to have fun while helping out Junior Achievement. It's just a $20 registration fee per bowler, which covers the cost of shoe rental and two games, and every Bowler that raises $100 will be eligible for door prizes which are given away every 5 minutes.
